Dim sum!
Fought the urge to get up at 5:00 and managed to sleep until 9:00. Perfect.
Arrived for dim sum just as they opened at 11:00

Heading out to Lantau island to see the Big Buddha statue and a fishing village
2 flights and a few tasty biz meals
I did manage to sleep 3 and 1.5 hours on these 2 flights. I skipped the sandwich near the end of the first 7hr flight.

And surprisingly they had an amenity kit (without an amenity bag, which is a good thing) inc slippers, on the gum-hkg leg.

They also have nice shaded be AC front public rest areas with benches and tables, lit up in the evening, and smoke free (as is the beach)

Which is 21:30 in HKG, where I’m this afternoon.
Not sure if that will help or hurt the jet lag, and it won’t be a lie flat seat today on the plane
The hostel in Waikiki (one short block from the beach) has a cool waterproof bracelet room key.

Rembrandt’s Nightwatch at the Rijksmuseum
Huge painting with new (at the time) light effects. Painting was actually trimmed at one point to fit in a new location. Did you know Rembrandt was his first name?
The museum, with a temporary Henry Moore sculpture, reopened earlier this year after extensive renovations
Nightwatch is hanging in back, to give you a sense of scale…

Fast food too slow? This fast food outlet at the train station also has a vending wall of self serve hot items
Tasty Indian dinner at Koh-i-Noor resto near Anne Frank Huis (which had too long a line as few sights are open in the evening)

We came for Susan’s reunion which included a busy/fun/interesting schedule, including:
A Trabi Safari tour of Berlin (trabi is colloquial for the cheap East German Trabant car (diff spelling), which has a 2 stroke engine so the tour has a special permit for them)
Berlin wall of course
Pergamom Museum with the Ishtar Gate of Babylon
And Potsdam Sans Souci palace
