Japan Rail Pass. Check.
Just bought my 7 day ordinary class Japan Rail Pass voucher. ¥29,110 charged as CA$313 (US$279 on my cc).
Surprisingly it’s not tied to a passport, just spelling of my name on the pass has to match my passport when I go to exchange the voucher for the actual pass once in Japan.

Interesting chat with a UN World Bank worker (light blue UN passport) from Alsace, who speaks 6 languages.
Was upgraded on each leg.. Just before boarding, the guy behind me (a Silver status) was asking if he got upgraded but alas, it was not robe for him.
