What is that supposed to smell like, exactly? (seen in a cab in Panama)
They probably don’t even know what that is up north…

TSA Pre-check like security in YYZ nexus lane
Trial started recently… this is like 1990’s security. No taking off shoes, no laptop and liquids out of the bag (though liquid must still be in 3oz bottles), walk through metal detector.
Sweet!
So, you need to transfer to terminal A, which way to go?
Small electronic devices ok on takeoff finally (on some airlines)
I had read that AA and DL were trialing this, but now UA and WS are also allowing it. Finally, no more silly “powered down your devices, not just airline mode”
Also, a refreshing shower in the lounge in EWR sure felt nice (the lounge near C101/C120, not the one by C74)
Woohoo – HUACA’d my way to an SDC with upgrade queue jump
Gave up my upgrade on a RJ from YYZ to EWR (1hr flight) to go earlier and use an upgrade certificate on EWR to SEA (6hr flight). Booyah!
I was trying to use the upgrade on my original flight but it was looking hopeless
Legend:
HUACA = hang up and call again
SDC = same day change
Upgrade queue jump – taking advantage of flaw in UA’s upgrade process to grab an upgrade before the automated process gives it to a (more) eligible member
Really, a flight attendant bringing liquids thru security?
Returning from Cancun, I saw a flight attendant trying to bring a bottle of Kahlua through securityat CUN. Really?
Does that actually work sometimes for them, because she had a supervisor called over. In the end though… #fail.
Night train to Amsterdam
Waiting in Hamburg Hbf (central train station) at midnight…
30min free Wi-Fi (in theory, it didn’t work and it would have required giving up my mobile#) but I have to pay €1 for the toilet. Really? Am I paying for cleanliness or for the automated gate they installed?
Can’t say I slept that well as the (top) couchette’s cushion was a little thin and 2 inches too short. But way more comfortable than a plane seat! You do get a pillow, sheet and blanket.
Although there were 6 couchettes but only 4 people (I paid €10 extra for a max 4 cabin)
The middle couchette flips down during the day, becoming the backrest for the seats.
1st class sleeper for2 people, which also has its own washbasin.
One narrow washroom
The Englification of German continues
Or is that Anglicization?
A few more examples I’ve seen or heard lately:
Park and ride (P+R on signs)
Stop and go (UN traffic report)
Nonstop you (the latestLufthansa airline tag line, which, ironically, was decidedly not nonstop for me in either direction)
