Not only is there someone sitting next to me now but the empty centre 5-seats are all gone too.
This is almost 8hrs HNL-GUM with no upgrade possible.
At least my seatmate is not oversized

On the IAH-HNL flight. It is indeed in between biz and first.
Plus a warm roll, though no whole wheat rolls. WTF! ?
This was preceded with a ramekin of warm nuts and followed by a custom sundae. Mmm. I also waltzed behind the curtain and gave some drink coupons to a Cdn couple I had met on the previous flight.
On the downside, the power port is some goofy thing which is not a cigarette lighter plug and definitely not a normal outlet…
Plus snack before landing after almost 8hr flight:
It’s not everyday you get to fly on #1 In this case IAH to HNL, although flight #1 is changing to a different route next year
On my United Express commuter jet early this morning in “first” class . Now that’s living the high life
Last night my phone informed me of an available update to Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean is 4.1.1).
Do I really want to upgrade hours before my trip? What if it bricks my phone? OK that’s unlikely.
Now the phone is asking me to upgrade every hour or so.
The (Cdn) guy who directed me to the extra screening had a sense of humor at least: I asked if the nexus line moved and he replied “yes, and they’ll serve you breakfast in there too”
It took 10 minutes, mostly waiting for my turn for a cursory bag search.
The lounge was open before 5:30 but I couldn’t stay long as it was a long walk to the very end of the commuter jet wing of the terminal.
And my 6am flight? It can’t take off until 6:30 due to noise restrictions.
And yes, I am upgraded on 3 of my 4 flights today.
At least I’m packed and can relax now…
Needless to say a taxi will be involved in the morning, oh the luxury! (ok, I’m using a Groupon. But public transit wouldn’t be an option at that hour)
Flights for my upcoming trip to HKG/SIN/Cambodia in one week:
(REP is Siem Reap, where Angkor Wat is; PEN is Phnom Penh, the capital)
The red lines YYZ-IAH-HNL-GUM-HKG-SIN are 5 flights / 12,718 miles each way on UA (I’m upgraded on 8 of those 10 flights and waitlisted for one more leg). Though I spend one night in HKG on the way, and 12 hours in HKG on the way back.
The 2 green lines are JetStar Asia flights (a LCC = low cost carrier).
