Yes, Germany has beaches! Just not warm water
Is it just me or do you see a face in this first one?
The beach in this Baltic Sea town…
With a big mussel colony near the pier, in 1m deep water
One more house from a different town
Pros
People get out of the left lane, period. The way it should be. You can’t appreciate the difference without experiencing it
No need for stop signs at every intersection, when a yield sign will do (even at the end of an off ramp)
High speed limits – not actually unlimited unless you’re far from a city, which in a small densely populated country…
Cons
Super expensive gas @ €1.50/L ($2/L or $7.60/gallon)
No right turn on red
Slightly confusing highway direction signs
Off to northern Germany for an, um, unhappy family gathering.
Flying Lufthansa – no, not biz, but the food and drink should be better than united, which doesn’t even give free adult beverages in economy to Europe.
Looking forward to a little lounge time, at the better intl Air Canada Maple Leaf Leaf Lounge
Berlin map from our August trip
We came for Susan’s reunion which included a busy/fun/interesting schedule, including:
A Trabi Safari tour of Berlin (trabi is colloquial for the cheap East German Trabant car (diff spelling), which has a 2 stroke engine so the tour has a special permit for them)
Berlin wall of course
Pergamom Museum with the Ishtar Gate of Babylon
And Potsdam Sans Souci palace
